I was updating my cv this morning when I had a bit of an epiphany. I realized that it’s not just a list of my experiences, but a database of those experiences. Of course, I don’t use a database program to maintain it. Instead, I maintain it as a static document in Word. 

Because my coffee hadn’t quite kicked in, I had to fight the urge to build my cv in a database program and finish it in Word. Don’t get distracted.

I kept working. The caffeine took effect. I realized that this is probably what many of the online career-oriented sites do. So, I’m a little late to that particular nerd party.

Anyway, it’s the beginning of the year. Whether you maintain your cv as a static document, online database, or engraved plates, now is an excellent time to update it. You might be surprised how much as changed over the past year.
